Lilith Temple Clergy
The
Clergy of the
Lilith Temple Society are each well grounded in their own Spiritual
Path prior to taking vows within the Temple. They have chosen to become
clergy in order to serve the Pagan
community in a rewarding and meaningful way by providing opportunity
for the membership and their guests to celebrate the Seasons in Ritual,
by providing Spiritual counsel when requested, performing Handfastings, Namings,
Sendings (Requiems), House Blessings or other ritual or spiritual
services required, and
by being leaders by
example.
Except
for the original founding Clergy still serving, all Clergy will
have served a novitiate period of at least a year and a day.
In
order to become Clergy in the Lilith Temple Society a person must
have been a member of the Temple for a minimum of a year, be
well-grounded in their own Path, and serve as a Clergy
Novitiate in partnership with their chosen mentor, which must be an
active, full clergy of the Temple.
To
become Clergy Novitiate, they must apply to the Clergy body prior to
Mabon, at which time - upon acceptance by the full Clergy body - they
will speak their intentions in Ritual and
their chosen mentor will agree to partner them. They will speak their
vows to the Temple at Samhain Ritual, as will
their Mentor, and their year-and-a-day will begin.
The
purpose of the Novitiate period is to give the Novitiate-Clergy
practice and guidance in performing Temple Ritual, but primarily it is
to allow all the Clergy to work together as a full working body,
including the newest Clergy. All decisions made by the Clergy must be
unanimous. Personality clashes that cannot be overcome should
definitely surface within a year, as would differences of opinion in
regard to other critical matters that might interfere with those
decisions.
Clergy
serve as long as they and the Gods deem appropriate, at which
time they may honourably retire, their vows deemed fulfilled.
Associate
Clergy are Priest/esses with whom the Temple has a working
relationship. They are Temple members whose Spiritual work has carried
them beyond the practical reach of the Temple, which we deem it
appropriate to support.
The
final Clergy title used in the Lilith Temple Society is that of
Clergy Emeritus, bestowed upon those who have served the Temple far
above and beyond the average - which is an extra-ordinary feat as all
our 'average' Clergy are exeptional.
